Elements of Victory

ELEMENTS OF VICTORY

“VICTORY”! What a sound word. Every athletes want victory in their every matches, games or tournaments. We usually make V shape with our two finger while clicking pictures during achievements which indicates victory. Victory is the prime dream of all athletes in their athletic life. Besides Victory another part come Lose which always goes together. If one player or team wins another player or team will loss it is the universal truth. Here I am going to discuss about elements which affects the victory and it is my own experience not necessary that every athlete may feel same as like me.
 A.    Positive attitude
Your feelings or attitude should be always positive towards the destiny. It means if you win you will be happy of course but be prepare for lose also. If you lose the game you shouldn’t upset because it is the part of game. I have seen some player crying in arena for losing bout against opponent during tournament which is not so good. You must take lesion from your lose and prepare yourself for next tournament. But we always take part in championship to become winner not for loser.  So be positive always.

B.    B. Regular Practice
Regular practice is the key of success. For better performance and better result you have to practice regular. Without continuity you can’t improve your skills & will interrupt the path of progress. There is a quote also that practice makes man/woman perfect. Variation of practice may bring more interest in you. Same schedule and same location or same pattern of daily practice can make bore you. So some time try to change your method or pattern of practice of your skills. This may bring good results too.

C   C. Consistency
Every player tries to maintain his/her best form during athletic life to become champion. The form may be achieved after long time of regular practice but maintaining the best form for long period is challenging for all. It means making consistency in regular form is hard enough and challenging task for players. But athletes should maintain it to achieve victory.

D   D. Focused on yourself
Don’t pay attention to your opponent you should focus on yourself. While you preparing for tournament or   entering to arena you should think about your moves, plan & strategy not about your opponent at all. Your vision about what is you going to perform in the arena or tournament is main key so give it more importance than other things.

E   E. Environment
Practice session is one part and actual tournament is another part. What kind of environment we create during practice session and before tournament it directly affects the player’s attitude. If we create positive environment it will certainly affect positive will. Necessary facilities to athletes must be provided. It supports them by psychologically towards victory. If these kind of things goes opposite of players of course it will lead them to negativity.

F.    F. Motivation
Motivational charge for players is must in today’s scenario. Only good training with good coach is not enough today.  Without positive motivation players cannot give 100% to the game. They should be psychologically treated and prepared for the tournaments. I have met some coaches who said once that if his student will not win in the next bout he shall break his nose or dismiss from the class. A student told me about it at the same time I thought that it is not a motivation it was threat given by instructor to his student. It is not a way to treat the students. Obviously it brings negative thinking about art and coach. Threat never gives good result; coach should motivate them successfully in a positive manner.

At last, Winners are not those who never fail, they are those who never quit. Champions also make mistakes but not repeating mistakes is great lesion. Our goal is always to become winner and achieve victory so I usually say “WE RISE EVERY TIME WE FALL BUT NEVER QUIT”. Oss

COMMON ERRORS IN TECHNIQUE OF KARATE

COMMON ERRORS IN TECHNIQUE OF KARATE

There are lots of techniques, moves whether defensive or offensive, we practice lot every day in DOJO (karate class). We also teach to the students every single technique as it is our daily task in professional karate life. To make perfect move of karate we need more and more practice, good training with faultfinder sensei (Teacher). I am conducting 4-5 classes in different places, society & RWA. I also go to different classes of our coaches to take belt test 6 to 7 times in every year. And I mostly face a common question of parents that when their child will become perfect as me (examiners), why they have not perfection in their technique and will it possible with them? I use to answer them “why not???” But it will take long time with regular practice. The perfection does not come easily. I also traveled a long journey of karate about 17 years and still journey is going on. It is another matter but here I am discussing about the mistakes occurs in practice mostly which prevents to make perfect move.
a.     Coordination
Most of the students cannot coordinate their hand & leg movements while they shift the body from A point to B or doing techniques in steps (forward & backward). Lack of coordination make affect-less move. It also affect on balance & posture of technique. Perfect coordination brings effective move in every technique.

b.      Control of motion
Body motion is obviously connect the move of every technique in karate. While you move here and there with doing karate technique the motion comes in your body. When you hit the punch or kick or block motion of body come altogether but in same time if you can’t control the motion, the technique will go whether out of range or won’t reach to the target. Children/beginners mostly hit their punch or kick without controlling themselves then get imbalance. It cannot help to generate the power in technique also. So the control of motion is another factor for errors in technique.

c.      Timing
Timing is super important and hard also. Don’t punch at the same time as you move but don’t punch too late either. It also goes with same in kick, strike & block. To make this great combination you should practice a lot. Great timing brings the good result in perfection. If you have good timing in movements or between techniques then perfection will automatically come. So it is the crucial part of karate training but it will take long time to become a perfect in timing. Without timing you can’t be master in any kind of technique. In initial phase of training it is too hard enough to bring 100% result in timing.

d.    Hit or push
Hitting or pushing is completely a different thing. But most students use to push their punch not to hit. Same case in kick also. They are not hitting with their punch this is pushing. Lacking of power in technique is completely affect-less. So they should try to hit with punch not to push.

e.     Accuracy
Hit to target with perfect move with control is accuracy. Lack of perfection in above factors I mentioned, its impacts goes through on accuracy. Correct vision, distance & focus play role in accuracy. If we hit our technique without focusing or without correct distance we can’t reach on target. It means the accuracy levels go down. We cannot make accurate target. Accurate punch or kick or block or strike will show the efficiency of karate athlete. But an error occurs in it also.
In conclusion, an errors may appear in above factors while practice. This will impact on effectiveness of technique in karate. So you should try to avoid these errors from training. You should ask question specifically-HOW & WHY always. If you don’t know, you don’t improve in art. Your body is smarter than you think, so try to do better always-don’t give up.

KARATE & ITS VALUE IN OUR LIFE

"Karate-Do" is a simple meaning in lyrical matter. Just an art of empty hand or way of empty hand. It is called Japanese martial art. But it has big value in our life too. We are practicing it, also teaching to the students in many clubs, RWA & Schools. We are sharing knowledge and skill as well as teaching manners & discipline. In this way karate is itself good teacher for us also. So we should understand the inner part of karate.
Mostly, the students learn karate for just physical fitness or as self defense tool. They ignore the moral values of this art. Some teachers also couldn’t teach them properly about the motto of an art. They have not depth to their knowledge of karate or art. So some students don’t show their respect to other senior coaches, whether in class or outdoor.  We should teach them moral aspects of this art. The karate is about self discipline and our control over our mind & body not for fighting only. Control means discipline in us. We should give respect to take respect from others. It teaches us to be humble & noble. It is not about practicing kicking & punching only. It is easy to learn any art but to follow the principles is tough. Masters said us  to practice karate in daily life, here daily practice mean not moving your body every time where ever you are, it is about follow the ideals, moral & mental aspects as well.
So, if we follow the moral values of karate and practice in our daily life then we will live our life in 100% where an average person only live 50-80 % of his life and never knows who is he. Our practice leads us to enlightenment into our real life or true life. This is the essence of our training in karate.
Grand Master of Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Kenwa Mabuni Said “Karate is Lifetime Study.”
Now
It depends upon us that how we understand the value of karate in our daily life & how we follow this art to our life.
